The “Global Initiative Against Impunity for international crimes: Making justice work” (GIAI) is a Consortium of eight international NGOs and the Coalition for the International Criminal Court, co-funded by the European Union, which aims to contribute to the fight against impunity by supporting a comprehensive, integrated and inclusive approach to justice and accountability for serious human rights violations and international crimes. Driven by this commitment, the Global Initiative launches MakingJusticeWork.org, the GIAI Knowledge Management Platform, a digital platform designed to strengthen the work of key stakeholders and actors engaged in the fight for accountability. The platform serves as secure and user-friendly digital space that aims to reduce barriers to information, coordination, and engagement. Genocide means an act committed with the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group. In particular, those specified acts are killing members of a group, causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of a group, imposing measures intended to prevent births within a group, or forcibly transferring children of a group to another group.

War crimes include grave breaches of the Geneva Conventions and other serious violations of the laws and customs applicable in international armed conflict and in conflicts not of an international character listed in the Rome Statute, when they are committed as part of a plan or policy or on a large scale. Specifically prohibited are murder, mutilation, torture, taking of hostages, acts of sexual violence, creating child soldiers, and attacks on civilians, hospitals, and houses of worship.
