The International Court of Justice (ICJ), the principal judicial organ of the UN, holds public hearings on Guatemala's Application for permission to intervene in the case concerning Sovereignty over the Sapodilla Cayes/Cayos Zapotillos (Belize v. Honduras) from Monday 24 to Wednesday 26 November 2025 at the Peace Palace in The Hague, the seat of the Court. Session held under the presidency of Judge Iwasawa Yuji, President of the Court.


During the sitting, HE Judge Phoebe Okowa (Kenya), a new Member of the Court elected by the General Assembly and the Security Council of the United Nations on 12 November 2025, is officially sworn in.
